Smara City, Western Sahara: April 14th,2017
In the light of the policy of retaliation pursued by the Moroccan State against human rights defenders and Saharawi militants in favor of the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara, whereby the Moroccan regime is adopting several tactics of repression; Arrests and unfair trials, harassment, wage freezing, systematic displacement and confiscation of freedoms.
And since I have been the victim of this systematic policy, which has long been aimed at us, and as a consequence of this same policy, I have already begun a temporary hunger strike in order to claim my right to bring my work closer to my family as they need me especially my father who survives on artificial oxygen. In addition, i am claiming my right to be granted the approval to be transferred to my hometown as stated and guaranteed by the Moroccan civil service law and regulations after having spent more than 29 years in the city of Khouribga in Morocco ,including 16 years of arbitrary dismissal.
Moreover, there is also the case of Gabal Jouda whose national promotion card ( stipend) has been cut off since last January without any concrete reason except for her participation in the peaceful demonstrations claiming the right to self-determination of the Saharawi people.
We have received many promises that have not been respected by the Moroccan authorities who treat our demands as a kind of procrastination.
On the basis of the mentioned above, I announce;
– Starting a hunger strike open from Monday 17th April 2017.
– My refusal of the policy of blackmailing and extortion.
– Calling on the Moroccan State to abandon the policy of repression and to respond to our legitimate demands.
-The Moroccan State should assume its full responsibility for all this unjustise instead of aggravating the whole about-to explode situation and arising serious consequences.
-My call to all local, national and international human rights organizations and organizations, and the United Nations in all its mechanisms, as well as all democratic institutions, and media outlets and all students to stand by us and to lobby The Moroccan State to meet our demands and fulfill its commitments.
-President of ‘Freedom Sun’ for the protection of Saharawi defenders of human rights.
